Proseminar Sommersemester 2025

"Interpretable Machine Learning"

Description

Welcome to the pro-seminar "Interpretable Machine Learning"! We're excited to start the seminar with all accepted students in the new year, we will update our info on 6.1.

After learning about the available topics, you can submit a list of your preferences and will be assigned one topic. From that point on, you'll also have a tutor for your topic, whom you'll have to meet at least once before your final presentation. The presentation class will be held as a part of this course after the topics are assigned. The final presentations will be done in an in-person two-day block event in the last or second-to-last week of the lecture period. We're currently awaiting the confirmation of our room booking and will update you as soon as we have more information. Each student will also hand in a written report about their topic. The deadline for this will be shortly after the final presentations.

Organization and Enrollment Procedure

You can find the most up-to-date information in the course’s moodle room.

Goals and Criteria for a successful seminar

In the Pro-Seminar, you will learn how to work yourself into a topic, research related literature, and answer questions to this topic. To this end, you need to read the subchapters assigned to you and use different sources to verify and extend the statements made. Also, by listening and engaging with the other presentations, you will get a comprehensive understanding of interpretable machine learning methods. You will learn to address constructive criticism on research topics. To train this, we will assign to you two students' reports to critically comment until the end of the semester. You need to participate in every part of this seminar to pass it.
